Châtelaine's Dreams

This is the place where I want to share dreams and visions. As well for my love of needlework as for all things vintage and antique : fabrics, furniture, dresses, etc. etc. For photography and other visual arts. For music and cooking. For beauty in your lives.

Besides being designer for embroidery designs under the name of "CHÂTELAINE" and producing my own line of extravagant jewellery as the "GESCHMEIDE-MEISTERIN" (The Mistress of Jewellery), there
are so many things which are of interest for me, that I always wanted to have a place where to post bits and pictures to show and tell, and perhaps find like-minded "out there" to talk about our mutual passions for all things textile, antique, vintage and just beautiful....

I would like to hear from you, be it in email or as a comment !

Online 97 - Firelily MEDIUM Mandala

Here now are some pictures for you illustrating the new Medium Mandala - with a topic of Fire Lilies in different color schemes. Lots (!!) of beads and crystals will add sparkle, lots of Special Stitches dimension and many different threads and fibers feed your love for "stash".... and the use of the pretties....

The matching Yahoo Group is here => Online 97

One color scheme of the 4 differently colored lilies
These vibrant and boldly colored Summer flowers are growing wild in the Alps and other mountain areas, but of course they are cultivated in Gardens as well.
You find the botanical "basic" plant - but as well Hybrids which have been carefully grown to various shades from golden yellow to flaming red, and some even are blush and pink.
I was never lucky to have them appear in my garden more then one season - in the following year there was literally no sign of them - root voles had feasted on the juicy bulbs. Grrr !
Corner ornaments, full of beads and Special Stitches.....

The very center repeats the 4 different color schemes for the Special-Stitches-Filling of the ornaments
And one on light blue... like an early morning Summer sky.....

Soooo cold, but beautiful !

Since one week or so we have the coldest, iciest weather here, but with sunshine .
Walking of the frozen lawn resulted in a wonderful crisp sound, when a gazillion of tiniest, hexagon-shaped crystals broke...
Close-up from lawn. Ehhh... better say : moss. Anyway, that green stuff in the middle of the garden !
Hexagon-shaped ice crystals on the moss sprouts
No snow yet. But tonight for a first time, frost needles grew in the garden. On living Ivy, on dead leafs, on the dried flowers of the Hydrangeas.
The pond is frozen and so are the Reeds.

So with the sun shining and armed in triple layers of sweaters and gloves I went out to the garden to collect impressions.
Tiny icy flowers on the garden table....
I nearly got fits seeing ALL of the mole's earth hills - I had not seen them all, and I was furious when I saw them even in the flowerbeds, burrying my perennials and roses.
Only ONE and a half of about 30+ mole hills in my garden. Sigh. He moved when in the ground ahead the builders came... and I hope he will move back, once the houses there are finished.
That awful little critter ! If you look close you can see a tiny hole besides the hill, which is adorned with frosty needles from humidity - the result of the mole snuffing, snoring and breathing in his ice-cold
appartment....Pretty lacy curtain, isn't it ?
Mole's entrance with icy lace caused by his humid breath...
