Châtelaine's Dreams

This is the place where I want to share dreams and visions. As well for my love of needlework as for all things vintage and antique : fabrics, furniture, dresses, etc. etc. For photography and other visual arts. For music and cooking. For beauty in your lives.

Besides being designer for embroidery designs under the name of "CHÂTELAINE" and producing my own line of extravagant jewellery as the "GESCHMEIDE-MEISTERIN" (The Mistress of Jewellery), there
are so many things which are of interest for me, that I always wanted to have a place where to post bits and pictures to show and tell, and perhaps find like-minded "out there" to talk about our mutual passions for all things textile, antique, vintage and just beautiful....

I would like to hear from you, be it in email or as a comment !

More passions...

Besides being nuts for all things nature, textile, cooking and music and and and I have a true faible for perfumes. Actual ones, new ones to use and love - but even more old/vintage/antique ones.

Three original sizes of 4711 Juchten Perfume - Juchten being a leathery scent originally. Unfortunately these have changed quite a lot and only resemble very faintly a perfume. More to look at then to use....

Partially because of their beautiful bottles and flacons - be they miniatures or original sizes - partially even for their decades-old fragrances, which are much more often in a usable state then you might think.

These are my favorites - Coty Complice - original sizes and a miniature . The perfume is as good as new and delicious !

When  nowadays' perfumes "get old", they tend to ...stink, to say the least. Reason is the use of non-natural, artificial ingredients.
This is a perfect little original size of Perfume form Myrurgia: Maja. Still very sweet and spicy in scent and just soo nice to touch !

Vintage Perfumes were often combined of 100% natural essences, oils and resins. The head notes may evaporate over the years, the agrumen oils may get flat or not-so-pleasant, but after the first moments of a not-so-pleasant antique smell the middle notes and the dry-down still can develop the same manner they were invented by a famous "nose" back then....
I am slowly re-arranging my collection of miniatures and small sizes, and a few factices ( shop window flacons of huuuge size with colored water inside) and hope for an ingenious flash where in a roof appartment I can find enough straight wall space to place a new mirrored vitrine. sigh.
At least I will take the opportunity to share with you the pictures I make during the weeks of unpacking ;-) when I re-discover my treasures.
And - last but not least - I acquire the one or other NEW bottle too - mostly of really old perfumes, which still are available - as my newest treasure -bottle-wise AND scent-wise: Caron's NARCISSE NOIR. If you have a change and a counter nearby - go ahead and get a whiff of this perfume. It is grand !

This is a brand new flacon of Caron's Narcisse Noir - the utmost delicious fragrance I have smelled and used for a long time. Putting that this is the re-formulated modern recipe I really wonder how smashing the old perfume must have been...
As you may assume - the bottle, the name, the history of this perfume inspired me to create a new design. Wait and see... soon there will be tidbits of info here.
I will be hunting, searching and trying to find and acquire more of these vintage and antique treasures. This may prove to be difficult, but it is so worth it ! Like an entrance ticket to gone-bye times -open the stopper and off the voyage goes....

So I dare to mention it: if you have anything along these lines you do not like and not wish to keep, contact me please, if you might consider to sell or swap it....

More here soon...

I also love perfume but have to restrict my usage- teaching does not lend itself to good, strong scents.
