Châtelaine's Dreams

This is the place where I want to share dreams and visions. As well for my love of needlework as for all things vintage and antique : fabrics, furniture, dresses, etc. etc. For photography and other visual arts. For music and cooking. For beauty in your lives.

Besides being designer for embroidery designs under the name of "CHÂTELAINE" and producing my own line of extravagant jewellery as the "GESCHMEIDE-MEISTERIN" (The Mistress of Jewellery), there
are so many things which are of interest for me, that I always wanted to have a place where to post bits and pictures to show and tell, and perhaps find like-minded "out there" to talk about our mutual passions for all things textile, antique, vintage and just beautiful....

I would like to hear from you, be it in email or as a comment !

My collections - Hair Jewellery - vintage + antique

With each cm of my hair growing longer again, I enjoy using various toys, combs and stuff to put it in my hair. I usually wear it "up" by any way - so it does not dangle along my cheeks, which makes me MAD, to say the least.

Late Victorian/Turn of the century. Rhinestones galore...the golden border has obviously been re-painted by a non-skilled painter some day. Sadly.

I have been looking for contemporary stuff to help my hair stay put - but as well fell in love with the vintage and antique combs, needles and things to help adorn a coiffure and the wearer's outfit.

Biedermeier ( ca 1820 - 1840) Hair Pin, Tortoise with Sterling Silver top, delicately engraved. I love it !

Unfortunately really good antique hair jewellery is as expensive as any good antique jewellery - so I am sort of "hunting" different sources and markets to find a "deal"....even if this means, the piece is less then perfect.

Belle Epoque Hair Needle/Pin with red Stones. No idea yet if they are glass or real Garnets.Quite some are missing, and they had been set over a silver foil, as can still be seen to add sparkle and brightness.

One of the forks is broken. Sniff. I already got it that way.

The small crown-shaped jewellery part is hinged so it is visible regardless in which angle you put it into the hair-do

Edwardian Stick Pin

Beautiful assymmetric shape with scrolls and blue rhinestones

Black opaque forks, but semi-transparent green incrusted top. Sort of oriental looking

Victorian ? faux tortoise with metal applications, rhinestones and faux turquoises.

Quite some "Pre-Raphaelite" Looks.. reminds me of Waterhouse paintings etc...

Beautiful and LARGE Art Nouveau hair comb with Irises painted in three different gold colors.
Detailed engraved and painted.
My new Love : Biedermeier ( about 1850 - 1870 I assume) hinged Hairpin with Turquoises, Seed Pearls set into red-gilt Silver. Lovely lovely !

Little crown can stand up like a ....little crown. Very cute !

Only the scrolled parts of the crown are gilt in a reddish color. The rest is silver. No stamps

The entire back side is red-gilt.

One more detail...
Wonderful scrollwork in Sterling. Bent, and sort of squished. This piece will see my jeweller some day I have spare money for repairs...

No idea about the age of this one. Old.
More to come here, once I "found "more.... :-)))))
